PETALING JAYA: A 78-year-old woman was found unconscious after being beaten up by her maid – with the entire drama being caught on the house's hidden CCTV (closed-circuit television) cameras.
It is learnt that the woman's daughter-in-law, in her 40s, had gone to her husband's house in Desa Damansara here on Aug 6, to check on the victim who had been left alone at home with the maid after her son had gone overseas.
She was shocked to find her mother-in-law lying unconscious on the floor with bruises on her body and immediately rushed her to hospital.
The next day, she returned home to check the CCTV recordings and had another shock.
The video recording confirmed that it was the 24-year-old Indonesian maid who had beaten up her mother-in-law.
Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Arjunaidi Mohammed said a police report had been lodged and police had picked up the maid on Monday.
“The maid has been remanded until tomorrow (Wednesday) and the case is being investigated under Section 325 of the Penal Code for causing grievous hurt, which carries a jail term of up to seven years with a possible fine,” he said.
He added that the tape had been handed over to the police, who were still investigating the motive behind the beating.
Meanwhile, it is learnt that the victim is recovering, and has been transferred from the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) to a normal ward.
