Family denies maid abuse

A FAMILY of three claimed trial on Monday to a total of 42 maid abuse charges.

Stanley Kuah Kian Chong, 37, a bank executive, and his wife, Loke Phooi Ling, 37, face three and 32 charges respectively, while Loke's mother, Teng Chen Lian, 67, has six charges.

They are alleged to have caused hurt to Indonesian maid Susilawati Kusnata, now 26, between April and July last year at their Pasir Ris flat.

The investigation officer, Senior Staff Sergeant Eyo Eng Chuan, the first prosecution witness, seized a total of 25 exhibits from the flat which were tendered as case exhibits.

These included a ladder, a water flask, plastic hangers and a toilet brush.

The hearing continues on Friday.
