Kota Kinabalu: An Indonesian maid claimed trial in the Magistrate's Court here Tuesday to a charge of threatening to injure her employer through a Short Messaging System (SMS) last week.
Mirah Iskandar, 24, is accused of sending a threatening message to housewife Armah Abd Rashid, 32, at 4pm on Dec 1, this year in a house at Kampung Cenderakasih, Luyang.
According to the charge, Mirah allegedly sent text via SMS, "Bila saya jumpa kau, saya akan kalahkan kau, sebab kau mengandung, saya akan tendang perut sampai anak dalam perut kau mati (I will defeat you when I see you. Because you are pregnant, I will kick your stomach until your child dies).
The charge, framed under Section 8(1)(e) of the Minor Offence Ordinances, provides for a fine of up to RM25 on conviction.
Senior Assistant Registrar Herlina Muse set Jan 5 for mention of the case to fix the hearing date and ordered Mirah to be remanded further.
In another case, a Filipino Ajimal Ulong pleaded not guilty to assaulting a housewife with a knife.
Labourer Ajimal is alleged to have voluntarily caused hurt to one Ummai Abdul Halim, also a Filipina, with the weapon at 6.30am on Dec 4, this year at Lorong Scorpion, Kampung Air, here.
The court fixed Jan 5 for mention of his case to fix the hearing date and ordered the accused to be held under remand.
