Boss strings maid to ceiling fan

The Star Online/Harian Metro, Wednesday December 31, 2008

BEASTS — that is the best way to describe a family that watched as a man strung their maid to a ceiling fan.

Harian Metro reported that the maid, from Indonesia, was also beaten up and scalded with hot water by her businessman employer.

The slightly built maid, who is in her 20s, managed to escape from the house in Ampang Jaya early last Wednesday morning.

She was found walking in a daze near Kampung Melayu Ampang.

The maid was sent to the Indonesian Embassy and a police report was lodged.

She was later taken to Hospital Ampang and warded for two days.

The maid has since been released into the care of the Indonesian Embassy.

Quoting sources, the tabloid reported that police were looking for the businessman and his family.

Ampang Jaya deputy OCPD Supt Amiruddin Jamaluddin said the man's house was empty.

The family is believed to have run away soon after realising the maid had escaped.

Air stewardess arrested for abusing maid

> In another case, the tabloid reported that police have arrested an air stewardess accused of being cruel to her maid.

The mother of two from Puchong was said to have regularly punched and kicked her Indonesian maid until she could not stand it any more and ran away.

The last straw for the maid was when she was beaten up by her employer with a belt last Monday.

The maid has been warded for treatment at a hospital.

The employer has been remanded.
