JEDDAH, Security forces arrested 597 people of different nationalities in an early morning raid yesterday in the southern parts of Jeddah.
A police spokesman revealed that many of those arrested were wanted in relation to various crimes. Officials said the locations were kept under surveillance before the early morning operation.
The security operation, which was supervised by Jeddah police, involved 11 governmental and non-governmental departments. One of those arrested was a Saudi pickpocket.
Meanwhile, police in the southern city of Abha conducted a sweep recently that netted 2,750 people who were residing illegally in the country, Al-Watan reported.
