JAKARTA: Migrant Care said Wednesday an Indonesian migrant worker in Saudi Arabia went missing while receiving treatment in a Riyadh hospital after allegedly being tortured by her employer.

Tari Tarsim Dasman from Karawang, West Java, was allegedly kidnapped by police officers Monday from the Medical Complex Hospital and was taken to an unknown destination for interrogation, Migrant Care said in a statement.

Nasser Al-Dandani, a lawyer for the Indonesian Embassy in Saudi Arabia for migrant worker cases, confirmed the Embassy was yet to receive information on the maid's whereabouts.

Abdullah Al Ghamdi, first secretary at the Saudi Arabian Embassy in Jakarta, told The Jakarta Post he was yet to learn of the case.

Another Indonesian maid is currently being treated at the same hospital for injuries caused by alleged torture.

Migrant Care has also asked for Saudi Arabia to repatriate the remains of Siti Tarwiyah and Susmiyati who were found dead in Alfaj, Saudi Arabia, on Aug. 3. It has been alleged the men's employer and his relatives were responsible for their deaths. -- JP
