MAKKAH, — An Indonesian national committed suicide yesterday afternoon by hanging himself from a tree in the Al-Sharaya district of Makkah.
“The man is believed to be in his 40s and there are no obvious details at the moment about what motivated him to commit suicide. Police retrieved an ID card that was in his possession and which was issued in Indonesia. He also had a bag with him that included some personal belongings,” said Maj. Abdul Muhsin Al-Mayman, official spokesman for the Makkah police.
Al-Mayman added that it is unknown whether the man was residing in the Kingdom legally or not.
“A police unit and a forensic team arrived at the location to gather evidence after a member of the public called the emergency services,” said Al-Mayman.
“The body has been taken to the King Faisal Hospital in Makkah. Further details will be disclosed in due course,” he added.
