District police chief ACP Arjunaidi Mohamed said the 27-year-old woman was rearrested at 5pm at the district police headquarters, shortly after she was released.
He said she was being investigated for criminal intimidation by anonymous communication. The woman was arrested in Johor Baru on Monday.
On Tuesday, a 16-year-old boy was arrested after he demanded RM5,000 from Sharlinie's father Mohd Nashar Mat Hussain.
He is under remand until Friday.
