Police said the woman, slashed more than 20 times on the left side of the body, had been involved in a previous assault case in December.
The Indonesian, identified only as Fitriani, was found outside a small hut at the kennel in Kau Lung Hang Tsuen, Sheung Shui, by the 58-year-old owner Wong King-kwok at 8.30am yesterday.
The 5,000 square foot kennel trains search and patrol dogs. The victim started to work for Wong at the kennel at the end of her three-year contract with her previous employer, a fireman.
Police Superintendent Steve Li Wing-hong of Regional Crime Unit, New Territories North, said initial findings showed the victim was killed by knife wounds.
Reports from the scene said there was no sign of a struggle and no weapon was found.
Since the victim had been involved in an assault case in December, in which she had been hit on the head, police are investigating whether the wounding case and the murder are related.
A post-mortem examination will be carried out today.
More than 100 police officers and sniffer dogs were involved in combing the area for evidence, including Tang Chi-siu, the son of Police Commissioner Tang King-shing. Tang, 23, graduated from the Police Training School last December as an inspector, achieving three best-of-the-best awards.
