Residents protest against eviction
JAKARTA: Dozens of residents from Semper Timur in Cilincing, North Jakarta, staged a rally at the City Council on Wednesday to protest against the North Jakarta administration's plan to evict them.
Representing the residents, lawyer Rizki Hendra said the municipality planned to demolish the homes of more than 500 people in the area.
"The residents are not illegal occupants of the land. They have land tax receipts to prove it," he told reporters.

Meeting the residents, chairman of the council's commission A overseeing the administration, Achmad Suaidy, said the commission would ask for clarification regarding the plan from the North Jakarta administration. -- JP
