TEMPO Interactive, Madiun: The National Labor Export and Protection Agency (BNP2TKI) will build a training center for Indonesian migrant workers in several regions. The center is to protect migrant workers from being tricked by brokers.
“One center in Banten has been established. Other regions will have one soon,” said BNP2TKI’s head Muhammad Jumhur Hidayat yesterday.
Jumhur explained the training center will train female workers to be housemaids and they will have a language class. “To make them ready,” he said.
Jumhur said BNP2TKI currently is preparing classes for formal jobs like nurses, mechanical engineers, and technical workers at oil refineries. There are 200 people attending the training in Cepu, Central Java, for the oil industry. “We have job requirements from Qatar and Saudi Arabia,” he said.
He mentioned 211 kinds of jobs are offered by 41 countries. Even Japan now requires some 100,000 nurses for nursing homes. It is predicted that by end of 2015, Japan will require 600,000 nurses.
At present, Indonesia has 6,000 migrant workers sent to 41 countries. They can send home up to Rp105 trillion every year.
