Held for human trafficking

NST Online, 2008/11/12

KUALA LUMPUR: The owners of an established labour agency in the country were arrested last week for alleged human trafficking.

The owners, a local woman and her Singaporean husband, were suspected of trafficking hundreds of Filipino women into the country for vice activities.

It is learnt that the couple were arrested after an in-depth investigation by the Philippine police, who asked their local counterparts to track them down.

The couple's activities came to light after two of their alleged victims managed to escape from a vice syndicate several days earlier and sought refuge at their embassy here.
