KUALA LUMPUR, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) -- Malaysian police has arrested 34 illegal immigrants in Malacca City in a crackdown operation, according to a local newspaper on Monday.
The illegal immigrants were held on Sunday during the operation at a shopping complex near a former bus station, which was a favorite haunt for migrant workers, The Star said.
These illegal immigrants, including 15 Indonesians and nine Bangladeshis, were arrested after Malacca State police screened 1,038 migrant workers there.
The operation was aimed at ensuring the city free of illegal immigrants, especially in the city's tourism areas.
