The Saudi government deported 23,644 Indonesian migrant workers, most of which were women, in the January-December 2008 period, Indonesia`s Consul General in Jeddah Abdullah Mansyur said as quoted by Antara news agency on Tuesday.
Mansyur said that most of the workers had entered the country illegally while some used "umrah" or minor hajj visas. He added that most of the illegal migrant workers had no official immigration documents such as passports and other identities. (and)
