A taxi driver here was busted trying to smuggle an Indonesian woman into Jeddah who had fled her sponsor, a local newspaper reported yesterday.
Now the cabbie has been told he will need to cover the plane-ticket expense to deport the woman. The woman was working as a housemaid in this highland resort city. Her sponsor, a Saudi national, says he won’t take her back since she fled his employment. Under threat of more strict punitive measures for aiding a fleeing foreign worker, the cab driver agreed to pay for the plane ticket to send the woman back to her country.
