KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 13 (Bernama) -- More than 400,000 Indonesian workers will have to undergo an induction course in their country before being allowed to enter Malaysia to work.
An Indonesian company, PT Strategi Tenaga Kerja Cemerlang (STKC) which is collaborating with the consortium coordinator for the Indonesian Workers National Board, will conduct the course.
"The induction course will run for two days in all the provinces to ensure that the Indonesian workers are equipped with various skills," STKC representative Mudi Astuti told a press conference here today.
Its sister company in Malaysia, Strategi Tenaga Kerja Cemerlang Sendirian Berhad (STKCSB) will conduct the related operations in Malaysia.
"The induction course will be done through the Human Resource Ministry's certification system and the data will be used by the Malaysian Immigration Department for visa issuance," said STKCSB chief operating officer Datuk Mohd Sharif Ahmad.
"The induction course will provide Indonesian migrant workers with sufficient knowledge of Malaysian laws and regulations and immigration procedures.
"We will also make it compulsory for them to understand Malaysian culture and social practises, besides being able to communicate in Bahasa Malaysia or English," he added.
Those who have successfully completed the induction training will receive a Certificate of Eligibility from the Department of Skills Development which will enable them to obtain a work permit.
