Maid held after house robbed

NST Online, 2008/11/14

SUBANG JAYA: A 19-year-old Indonesian maid in SS15 here was arrested after two men robbed her employer's house and got away with RM400,000 in jewellery on Wednesday.
The maid had told police that she was alone in the kitchen when two men entered through the front door, which was unlocked.

She claimed the men demanded to know where the valuables were kept. When she refused to tell them, one of them tried to strangle her. She said while one man kept watch over her, the other ransacked the house.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Zainal Rashid Abu Bakar said police arrested the maid following contradictions in her statement. For one, she claimed the men had ransacked the house, but there was no evidence of this.

Police arrested two construction workers doing renovation work on a house nearby.
